Joshua Agilinko

Joshua Agilinko is a soon to be London-based ST3 (registrar) in General Surgery, having ranked in the top 1% nationally in the UK. He is keen on Breast Oncoplastic Surgery as a career. His academic profile includes a Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery degree (Bristol, 2016), Postgraduate Certificates in Biomedical Science (St. George’s, 2011) and Surgery (RCS, Eng, 2019). He is currently a student in Surgical Sciences and Practice (MSc, Oxford) and International Healthcare Management and Leadership (MBA, RKC, Zurich). He has 10 peer-reviewed papers (Researchgate), 20 national and international presentations and a recipient of 6 awards and prizes, including a letter of commendation from Her Majesty the Queen (2009). His clinical profile includes 18 audits and quality improvement projects with development of hospital guidelines at executive level. Teaching roles include faculty member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Surgical Skills Competition, 2020) and Doctors Academy (MRCS OSCE Course, 2020), honorary teaching fellow at the university of Aberdeen (2020) and Ghana Lead doctor (Surgical Teaching Course, Ghana (2020). He has a strong interest in healthcare leadership and will serve as an Equality and Diversity officer (ASiT, 2020), Core Surgical Trainee Regional Representative (East of Scotland deanery, 2019), Foundation Year representative (Sepsis and VTE, 2017). He is the founder of Ghana Overseas Education Service. Professionally, he is committed to attracting healthcare resources to Africa and driving investment in the region. He has been a speaker on national and international youth and healthcare-related discussion platforms including Africa Healthcare Week (2020), Podcast with Dr Vlad Mkrtumyan (2020) and PANAfrica Business fair (2020). Away from his very busy schedule, he supports local organisations in Ghana including Homeland Ghana, a not-for-profit organisation supporting schools in Sandema, in the upper East Region of Ghana. Together with other healthcare professionals in Ghana, he is in the process of setting up a free healthcare advice on-demand app and desktop service for Ghanaian patients. Ultimately, his work is centred on driving the adoption of innovative regional, national and international healthcare solutions in Africa.
